Freshman Year: This whole chapter has to do with college culture and the community that us college students live in every day. In this chapter she sits down and tries to figure out who eats with who and tries to explore diversity on campus. Personally I know that my roommate and I are very close therefore I eat with her because our schedules allow it. I feel as if this study that she did was not very accurate because people can eat with certain people pertaining to time schedules and who’s available when.
The Mind at Work: I found it interesting how much I can relate to this. I feel as if it is true that college students are pressured to be involved in something and do things that they don't want to do. Students can have plenty to little extra time on their hands and it should be spent the way they want it to be spent. For example last semester my roommate begged me to go to the activities fair with her and I did. Upon finding so many things I was interested in I asked myself if I would have the time to do these activities since I'm only a freshman and should be worried about my studies and transition to college school work. I liked the running club because I use to run track in high school but asked myself if I would be dedicated to this club. I decided that the gym would be a better option for me because I can do that on my own time when I was comfortable enough to do so.
